Roxanne Norman Sewell is a partner with her husband Luther Sewell, who is a pioneer in the region’s publishing industry, and the founder of The LJS Group, a premier African American organization. Roxanne is a native of the Homewood area of Pittsburgh and a graduate of Westinghouse High School. Working 30 years for major corporations in the Pittsburgh region, Roxanne has been able to transform her career many times. After receiving an Associate’s Degree in Secretarial Science from Community College of Allegheny County, Roxanne began her career as a secretary for US Steel, where she worked for 10 years, until the Pittsburgh steel industry died. She then joined Rockwell International as an executive secretary where she worked for the Office of Strategic Planning as well as for the CEO. She then joined J&L Special Steel to become a stainless steel account executive. After 16 years of selling steel, when the company was sold, she decided to return to CCAC where she received an Associate’s Degree in Business Management and graduated with high honors.  In 2008, she decided to join her husband, and business founder Luther J. Sewell, Jr. as president of The LJS Group. For 56 years, The LJS Group has produced publications and hosted events that promote community participation and development through citizen voice, civic engagement, and political accountability. Talk Magazine, the company’s cornerstone product, covers encouraging and critical life issues, as well as positive stories and images about the African American community. In addition to publishing, LJS has worked as consultants, analysts, organizers, planners, and mediators for organizations with an interest in effectively reaching special markets. Roxanne is a Stewardess at Trinity AME Church and enjoys an incredibly happy life with her husband, children and grandchildren.
